Dear USCJ Community, All across North America, USCJ leaders and communities have been following the news of the catastrophic wildfires in the Los Angeles areas with deep concern. Most especially, we were devastated to hear that the Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center, a cornerstone of our Conservative/Masorti community in Southern California, has suffered an unimaginable loss due to the wildfires raging in Los Angeles. Their cherished building has been reduced to ashes. While we are grateful that all staff and sacred Torah scrolls have been evacuated safely, we cannot overlook the profound impact this tragedy has on the century-old congregation and its vibrant preschool. This loss has left families without a home, staff members without shelter, and a community grappling with heartbreak. In addition, many other congregations and residents in the region are also facing displacement and loss. The ripple effects of this tragedy are felt throughout our community, as families seek safety and find themselves in desperate need of support. USCJ, in partnership with local congregations and organizations, is committed to extending our reach to assist those affected, ensuring that our collective efforts provide relief and hope to all who are suffering during this challenging time. In this dark time, USCJ stands firm in our commitment to support our Greater Los Angeles family. We have pledged immediate emergency funding to address their urgent needs. We invite you to join hands with us in solidarity and compassion by making a donation to the USCJ Emergency Fund. As the needs of our communities emerge, we will be ready to provide support. |
