Every generation of teenagers is defined by the ways that they communicate with one another. When I was in USY, everyone communicated using AOL’s Instant Messenger or the USY Listserve (may they rest in peace). When I was a staff member, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram become the dominant ways to share with one another. And no matter how teens communicated, USY leaders always adapted to find new ways to use technology to teach Torah.  

For our current generation of USYers, TikTok is how they engage. And like every previous generation, our USY leaders are adapting to share Judaism with a wider audience than ever before.

Late this spring, Hannah Plotkin, USY’s International Religion/Education Vice-President, and her general board launched TikTokJudaism, a TikTok account aimed at sharing USY’s unique brand of Torah with a potential audience numbered in the billions. The account has just launched and any member of the USY Community can follow and share the account with others.

As the teen landscape continues to change, and opportunities to teach Judaism only increase, please consider donating to USY’s Annual Fundraising Campaign so that we can increase the Jewish outreach USY can provide around the world.
