TOPIC: COLLABORATIONS & PARTNERSHIPS

This is a space-limited, interactive discussion for lay leaders involved in membership/engagement at their congregations which will rely on group participation.There will not be a frontal presentation. Please come prepared to share what takes place at your own congregation and with questions for others. Staff, clergy and lay leadership are welcome. The conversation may include:

• When you hear the word “partnership,” what comes to mind for your synagogue right now—opportunity, necessity, challenge, or all three?
• What would you most want a partner to help you do better?
• What collaborations or partnerships is your synagogue currently engaged in, formal or informal?
• What originally prompted that collaboration—financial need, staffing capacity, shared values, programming goals, or something else?
• What has worked particularly well in those partnerships?
• What has been harder than expected?
• What makes a partnership feel equitable and respectful, especially when organizations differ in size or resources?
• How do you set clear expectations around decision-making, branding, and ownership?
• What signals tell you a partnership is no longer serving its purpose?
• How do you maintain your synagogue’s unique identity while collaborating?

What would you like to share about what happens in your own congregation? What would like to learn from others?

The session is scheduled for 60 minutes. In order to optimize free-flowing conversation, it will not be recorded.
